Print Finishing
Finishing your print to the highest standard is our priority. Our team of skilled print finishers are able to offer you a number of different finishing processes, whether it’s binding and folding or foils and embossing to elevate your product to the next level.
Burst/Perfect Binding, Wiro Binding & Saddle Stitched
Winter & Simpson offer a comprehensive range of print finishing techniques at our modern production site. A full onsite facility offering guillotining, folding, stitching, binding, packaging and many ancillary services are all under the one roof.
Our expert staff are committed to producing the highest quality of finishing and meeting the delivery times required by our clients.
Burst binding is fast becoming the most popular binding of our limp back books among our clients. It is an extremely strong binding method that ensures pages remain intact even under heavy use.
Wire-o binding is a very flexible form of binding and is commonly used in the production of tent calendars, wall calendars, notebooks, and book production.
Saddle stitching is the most commonly used type of binding for the and finishing of printed booklets. The procedure involves folded sheets of printed material being gathered together along with a cover and then two wire stitches are passed through the folded spine from the outside to the inside and stitched closed. This method ensures the contents are secured neatly and efficiently.
Lamination, Spot UV & Aqueous Coatings
A great way to provide added durability and characteristics to the covers of books, brochures, programmes and paper-based marketing material.
Matt, soft-touch and anti-scuff laminate has a much more subtle effect, with a less vibrant but refined finish.
Gloss laminate is very useful for images or pictures where light reflection is key. Images of metals, natural light, or pop colours benefit from having gloss reflection to emphasise the contrast.
Spot UV involves a clear, shiny coating applied to specific areas of artwork to create an eye-catching contrast, making it a luxury choice for business cards or brochure covers.
Aqueous coating is a popular clear coat used in the printing and packaging industries. Applied as a topcoat to a variety of print projects, it provides a layer of scuff and scratch resistance.
Emboss & Deboss
Embossing helps take your design to the next level. The raised design or lettering works on various paper stocks to give a stylish textured look.
To get maximum impact, we suggest using heavier papers to ensure a greater contrast. The process works well on products that will be touched and handled personally by your customers. Embossing uses custom made etched dies & counter dies to press on both sides of a sheet of paper, pushing the embossed design above the paper’s surface, like a reverse stamping effect. A perfect way to add depth to your artwork.
Debossing is the opposite effect to embossing and gives a more subtle look, with a recessed image instead of a raised one. The process to create a debossed logo or lettering uses similar etched dies and counter dies to the embossing process, they are pressed into the front of the paper to create an indentation. Ideal for creating an elegant finish with a unique and textured feel.
Foil
Foil blocking is a popular and effective print finishing technique used to add a distinctive touch to marketing materials including brochures, business cards and stationery.
The foil blocking process involves applying metallic foil or pigment to paper while a heated magnisium die stamps the design onto the print surface.
With over a hundred foils to choose from, including gloss, matt and holographic, we can find the perfect foil for your project. Write a description for this tab and include information that will interest site visitors. For example if you are using tabs to show different services write about what makes this service unique. If you are using tabs to display restaurant items write about what makes a specific dish particularly worthwhile or delicious.
Kiss Cut
Kiss Cutting is a cutting process used for making adhesive labels and stickers. The term ‘kiss’ cutting got its name because the kiss cutting knife or steel rule die cuts through the self adhesive material, but only “kisses” the backing paper without cutting it.
This cutting option is perfect for packaging, product labels or fun sticker sheets.
Die-Cutting
Die-Cutting is perfect for creating a bespoke cutter you can use time and time again. The process involves creating a metal die to cut through materials such as paper and card on a die press.
It allows you to create custom shapes that are entirely unique to you and your brand. Once created, you can use it over and over again, allowing you to create hundreds of identical shaped products.
